Timo Kullerkupp writes about contractual relationships in times of pandemics and emergency situations

From time to time, it is worth taking a step back from the urgencies of daily life and look at the bigger picture to decipher the impact of the global pandemic on the organisation of society more broadly, as well as the new normality in business and legal relationships in the post-crisis period.

RASK partner Timo Kullerkupp discusses the meaning of contractual relationships and agreements during and after a pandemic on the portal Edasi.org.

Which contractual relationships are the most resilient? What trends and challenges await businesses in the future, and how may legal relationships be regulated in the post-pandemic “new normality”?

“The coronavirus is attacking not only our immune system, but society at large, including the rule of law and the way in which legal relationships have been regulated for years. Legal relationships should be a guarantee of stability. But it seems that the standards of stability are changing. We do not know how many such pandemics lie ahead. We can predict nothing except the fact that more will come. The variables that are regulated will change. The variables that are valued and desirable will also change.”
