RASK successfully represents Allfilm EV100 in film competition dispute
Partner Ramon Rask and attorney Kristiina Kängsep represented one of Estonia’s most well-known film producers Allfilm in a dispute involving a request to revoke the Estonian Film Institute’s votes in the Eesti Vabariik 100 film competition.
In December 2012, the competition for producing films for the Republic of Estonia’s 100th anniversary was announced.
Allfilm, who is known for movies such as Tangerines, which was nominated for an Oscar in 2015, and The Fencer, also took part with various film projects. The competition results were declared in March 2016.
Two film projects entered by Allfilm, Truth and Justice and Deal or no Deal, received funding.
Factory OÜ, who did not receive any financing, opposed the results at the Administrative Court. Both the Administrative Court and the District Court dismissed Factory OÜ’s appeal.
In mid-September this year, the Supreme Court did not accept the appeal from Factory OÜ, which finally confirmed the legality of the subsidy granted to Allfilm.
