RASK represents Estonian Traders Association in negotiating packaging excise duty reform.

Case

RASK attorney Villy Lopman consulted the Estonian Food Industry Association and the Estonian Traders Association in negotiations with the Ministry of Finance in the matter of the packaging excise duty reform.

On 10 May 2017, the Government of the Republic approved and submitted to the Parliament a draft amendment to the Packaging Excise Duty Act, the Packaging Act and the Environmental Charges Act. The intention was to amend the current system of packaging excise duty.
The Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Estonian Food Industry Association and Estonian Traders Association disagreed with the proposed amendments on the grounds that the existing system is extremely inefficient and includes a lot of errors.

On 1 July 2017, the government coalition announced abandoning the packaging excise duty.

The Estonian Traders Association is an association of retail and wholesale companies operating in the Republic of Estonia.
