RASK successfully challenges new tax on motor vehicles.
Case
In the summer and autumn of 2016, the Ministry of Finance started work to introduce a vehicle tax in Estonia, directly or indirectly. RASK consulted the Estonian Association of Car Dealers and Service Companies (AMTEL) in negotiations with the Ministry of Finance. The negotiations concerned a wide range of issues related to taxes and state fees.
On 12 December 2016, Minister of Finance Sven Sester withdrew draft legislation that provided for a state fee for car registration from July 2017 onwards.
The Estonian Association of Car Dealers and Service Companies (AMTEL) is one of Estonia’s largest umbrella organisations for car dealers and service companies, whose main purpose is to protect their common interests.
AMTEL is a member of the European Automobile Manufacturers Association and the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
