Advising environmental organisations on placing a natural object under local protection
Case
RASK’s
legal experts advised environmental organisations on various legal issues
related to the designation and protection of natural objects at the local
government level.
Under the Nature Conservation Act, everyone has the right to propose the protection of a natural object. The prerequisites for granting protection include the object being endangered, rare or having a unique characteristic, as well as possessing scientific, historical, cultural or aesthetic value, or an obligation stemming from an international agreement. If these conditions are met and protection is deemed appropriate, the procedure for designating the object as protected is initiated.
